The Western Association of College and University Housing Officers (WACUHO) provides opportunities for college and university staff members, who have responsibility in student residence, food service, developmental programming, administration, conference services, facilities, and related operations, to come together and share programs, ideas, and services that celebrate diversity on campus and promote a quality residential living experience that enhances student learning and academic success.

Monday Morning Opening Keynote Speaker

Dr. Will Keim has spoken to more students on more campuses about actualizing peak performance and leadership than anyone in our nation. His corporate clients include AT&T, IBM, State Farm Insurance, several State human resources and development organizations, and Delta Airlines. He is the author of The Education of Character: Lessons for Beginners, Spirit Journey, Life after College, The Truth About College, The Tao of Christ and is a contributing author to Chicken Soup for the College Soul, Let Your Leadership Speak, and Greek Inspirations. Educator, Residence Hall Director, Educational Program Coordinator, 4 Year Division 1 Varsity Letterman in baseball, and Campus Minister, Will Keim understands students and the major issues facing them.

 
Wednesday Morning Closing Keynote Speaker

Dr. Dawn Person. Dawn is a Professor of Counseling and Student Development in Higher Education at California State University, Long Beach. She serves as co-director of the CSU/UC, Irvine joint Doctoral Program in Educational Administration and Leadership, Higher Education –Community College Emphasis. She also coordinates a Masters Degree program that emphasizes student development/affairs in higher education. Prior to her decade of college teaching, Dawn served as a counselor, advisor and administrator in student affairs, coordinating programs and services in support of students of color, international students, first-year students, and student athletes. She serves as a consultant to colleges and universities on program evaluation, student retention, organizational change, and multicultural issues. Among her many honors and awards, Dawn received the American College Personnel Association’s Diamond Honoree Award, a lifetime achievement award and she was a recipient of the College of Education Most Valuable Professor Award. She remains active with the ACPA, NASPA and other professional associations. Dr. Person currently resides in Long Beach, California with her two beautiful children. You can find her on the tennis courts at the local park, assisting as a coach for her daughter’s basketball team of 3rd and 4th graders, serving as a Girl Scout Leader, and ushering for her church
