RA's have many duties as well as being a student, which can lead to burn out (stress). RA's need to remember to take time for themselves to de-stress. In our program we will do an activity with balloons as well as demonstrate breathing/mediation techniques. We will also provide some background information on stress.

This program is designed to educate it's attendants about the development of homophobia as we take a look at the oppression people from the LGBTQQIA community might face. How does homophobia begin? Where do crazy gay stereotypes come from? How can you as a RA make a difference to fight cycles of exclusion? This program is interactive, and insightful.

What do sex and gambling have in common? No…not strip poker. It's the Condom Casino! Come see Vegas turned upside down, as we educate on safer sex and try to beat the house! Sex has never been so fun!

Handling With Care: An Approach to Communication and Conflict Resolution

In this interactive session, we'll simulate and analyze situations focusing on the nature of conflict and utilize approaches tailored to Residence Hall Staff dialogue and not disdain.

We believe that by using our ideas and guidelines to get students involved that these students will be more likely to graduate from the university they started attending.

Dollar Stretching with Donations: A Practical Guide to Soliciting Donations

The objective of our presentation is to make RA's aware of the often untapped programming resource of company donations. We will present guidelines for the entire process of soliciting donations through handouts, a presentation and two short skits.

RA Developmental Theory: Dynamics Between New & Returning Staff

This segment is meant to focus on the dynamics that exist between first year RA's and returning staff members. It will explore these issues by extracting core elements of student developmental theory and applying them to Residential Education. This section encourages audience participation.

A Unique Community: The UCSC Trailer Park

The program will present the UCSC trailer park to expose other RA's to different college communities. We will present as well as show a video of our unique living space.

Former Peace Corps Volunteer and Recruiter Jay Minert and former Semester-at-Sea Member Jodi Harvey will present a background of their overseas experiences and tips on how to prepare for and become competitive at gaining opportunities to live, work and study overseas. This session is meant for those interested in overseas programs.

J-Board: Residents Stepping Up to the Plate

The SFSU Judicial Review Board enables the residents to become involved in housing's judicial process. The Judicial Review Board is a great way to meet other students, help set standards for the community and develop leadership skills. This presentation will illustrate how residents can facilitate corrective, creative and proactive recommendations to resolve conflicts.

Through activities and interaction in our presentation, we plan to simulate a health awareness program which RA's can put on for their residents. The goal of this program is to help students make the transition to college in areas such as healthy eating, taking care of their bodies, sleeping habits, physical activity, and social life.

First Year Community Council: Creating a Leadership Legacy

Initiating a student lead council in the first year community concentrates a base of leadership that carries throughout all years and beyond. Learn and discuss the significance of a first year community council, it's logistics, and its effect on a college as a whole.

Direct Recycling Programs for Residents

This program encourages students to recycle directly in their own rooms without actually having to walk to the recycling bins. It give students alternative methods for using recycled materials to decorate their own rooms, as well as encouraging others to eliminate waste through modeling a room which utilizes recycled materials.
